The Average formula

Definition

The average formula will calculate the average for the selected range of amounts. It works like the sum formula, but will give the average instead of the sum. If a selected field is blank, it will not be included in the average calculation.

Example

We have the following numbers. We have two blanks spots, the divider will thus not be 8 but 6, because the blank cells are ignored

B1

479.00

B2

58 463.00

B3

665 575.00

B4

343.00

B5

B6

45.00

B7

B8

657.00

Formula

=AVERAGE(B1:B8)

Result

120 927.00

You can also see the average on the automatic calculator when you select more than one cell.
