Microsoft Excel Training: Shortcuts and Quirks Microsoft Excel is a part of the Office Suite that is does not just have an easy to use interface, but it is also a very powerful tool for the most part. This is one of the reasons why in South Africa, and even in other parts of the globe, Microsoft Excel training courses are being given to most employees so they can make the most out of the program itself. Majority of individuals are aware on how it works and most are also aware of the interface itself, but, just to add up to your knowledge, here are some easy shortcuts that you can change with a simple highlight, a click of a mouse and a few keyboard shortcuts. Automatically, Microsoft Excel aligns inputted text on the left side and automatically aligns numbers including dates on the right site. You can change it from the formatting tool. Simply click on center, align left or align right to change that. Just so you know, when you have already changed the formatting of that specific cell, it stays – if you’ve chosen to align numbers on the left, and you’ve changed the value, the formatting stays there. You can however, change the format once more if you prefer doing so. Just so you know, here are two simple shortcuts (and time savers too), that most Microsoft Excel training forgets to teach. The AutoFill and AutoComplete functions: the AutoFill function allows you to enter days or dates of the month and fills it for you. AutoComplete on the other hand is another time saver. When you enter numbers, dates and months, November for instance, something will be shown like “Press Enter to Insert”. This way, you don’t have to spend too much time on typing data and other entries. Most Microsoft Excel training courses would also tackle about entering fractions, changing decimal places, freezing rows and columns, splitting panes and even adding formulas to entries. If this is your first time, this may sound too much for you, but as mentioned earlier, Excel is a very easy to use program that you’ll get to know it better once you’ve found the right shortcut buttons and keys of doing so. The good thing about Microsoft Excel is that they have a built in Excel training within the program itself. Visiting Microsoft will give you a brief overview on the most important topics that you should know with Excel, and it also comes in a presentation so that you can easily understand the topics covered. The Excel training basically starts with the simplest functions up to the most advanced topics. You may opt to skip the basic functions if you feel like you already know them and just study the lessons covering the topics that you don’t know of. |
