Microsoft Excel Training Course: The Basics Before you proceed with advanced Microsoft Excel training lessons, getting back to the basics is the most ideal way to do it. It serves a memory refresher, and you’ll also get the chance to check some easy shortcuts and lessons that you may not know yet. Microsoft Excel Training: An Introduction The tiny boxes that you see upon opening an Excel spreadsheet are called cells. In each cell, you can input numbers, texts and dates. In order for you to manipulate and easily edit your worksheet, the first best thing to do is to learn the most effective ways on how you can select these cells. The first most important thing that you should do is to click on a cell – a highlighted cell can be called as an active cell. If you have already highlighted that specific cell, you can now edit or change the entry, erase or add more content into it. If you wanted to work on more than just one cell, simply hit Shift + “right arrow key” or Shift + “down arrow key”. This action will allow you to edit more than just one cell. You can then change the format or the layout of the selected cells. Additionally, you may also change the font color, size and the background color of your preference. You don’t have to do these functions one cell at a time. Microsoft Excel Training: Creating Formulas In this short course, you’ll learn that Microsoft Excel can also solve numerous mathematical equations. For instance, if you’re using Excel to compute your budget and to make sure that you have the right values, you get the sum of the values or even get the average by adding a couple of formulas. Each formula starts with an equal sign (=). If you want to values of B2, B3, B4 and so on added, type in =B1+B2+B3 (and so on) to the cell where you want the sum to be displayed. The same thing goes with division, multiplication and subtraction. This way, when you input a value to cell B1, B2, B3 etc., the values will be automatically computed. When you change the value, definitely, the sum will change. There is no need for you to manually compute these entries all over again. This can save you a lot of time especially if you are trying to get the sum of 10, 20 or even more than 50 entries. These two lessons are the most basic topics that you’ll see being covered in most online courses. Remember, they may generally vary depending on the source, but make sure that you find one that you can totally depend on. If possible, you can check out the previous students who took the course, and find out how successful the trainings were. Learning Microsoft Excel is easy. Just make sure that you go back to the basics – just a little mind refresher for you to begin with. As soon as you’ve remembered all the basic functions, you can then proceed with more advanced Microsoft Excel training lessons.
